No suspension for Dwyane Wade … but should there be?

In the fourth quarter of game two in Miami, Dwyane Wade took out his anger on Pacers point guard Darren Collison during a fast break. It was obvious, intentional and flat-out dirty.

Wade was frustrated with a no-call from a couple plays before when Dahntay Jones went straight up and blocked his shot. Regardless, you don’t treat other people or other players like this. Wade is a good guy, but his attitude got the best of him here. Fortunately, Collison was ok.

Earlier in the year, Jason Smith did the same thing to Blake Griffin and was suspended two games. Wade won’t miss any time. Just a flagrant-one foul.

This had to be a tough decision for the league. Miami is already without Chris Bosh indefinitely and they certainly want a compelling and competitive series. Do you suspend one of the league’s top-five players and alter the series even further or just turn the head?

For the spirit of the series, I’m glad he’s not suspended. You want to see LeBron, Wade and even Bosh out there. The Pacers want to win or lose against the best team Miami can put on the floor. Without two of the stars, the the national media that would say “Indiana got lucky.” Nonsense.

I do think Wade should have been suspended. It was nasty, inappropriate, and he made no play for the ball. But it is the playoffs and very tough to draw the line.

What do you think? Should Wade be playing tonight in Game 3?
