Video: Larry Bird and Magic Johnson on the Late Show with David Letterman

Larry Bird and Magic Johnson have had plenty of battles in their lifetime, on and off the court.

No meeting as special and popular as the 1979 NCAA Championship between Bird’s Indiana State Sycamores and Magic’s Michigan State Spartans. In fact, it remains the most-watched final of all time.

Now, there’s a show on Broadway showcasing their relationship.

“At the heart of one of the fiercest rivalries in sports, two of the greatest athletes of all-time battled for multiple championships and the future of their sport. Hall of Famers Earvin “Magic” Johnson and Larry Bird could not have been more different; one black, one white; one an urbanite with a big smile and Hollywood appeal, and the other a quiet small town guy. Johnson and Bird, went head to head, electrified the nation, reinvigorated the NBA, and turned their rivalry into the greatest and most famous friendships in professional sports.” (From MagicBirdBroadway.com)

Just last month, the Pacers were in town to face New Jersey and attended a special preview of the show.

Wednesday, Bird made his first ever appearance on David Letterman’s show. Watch below:
