Roy Hibbert trains with MMA fighters, brings along Lance Stephenson, Jeff Pendergraph

Roy Hibbert is the hardest working Indiana Pacer. One can only hope, that his worth ethic rubs off on a pair of teammates.

Hibbert, a restricted free agent this offseason, took teammates Lance Stephenson and Jeff Pendergraph to his MMA workout Wednesday. I’m not sure exactly what they do, but I imagine it has something to do with strengthening their core, building muscle and working on endurance. All tools that can help each one of them get better.

‘The Big Dawg,’ as Roy likes to be called, averaged 12.8 points and 8.8 rebounds last season with the Pacers and was arguably the most improved player. He sharpened his post game, mental toughness and ability to run the floor, for example. Hibbert understands that to get to an elite level, it takes hard work on your own. He has worked out with Bill Walton and Tim Duncan. He got serious and hired a personal chef.

Taking Stephenson and Pendergraph to a workout session demonstrates his leadership and caring for his teammates. He likes playing for Indiana I expect him to sign a long-term deal this summer. How can you not like his focus, passion and hard-working mentality.

Video from one of their workouts Wednesday is below:
